This tent isn’t shaped like smaller done tents, and that’s to its advantage. By shaping itself more like a small cabin, you’re able to squeeze more standing room out of it. Its center height of 78 inches is more than enough room for most adults to stretch their legs without bumping up against the ceiling or having to hunch unnaturally.
The cabin shape is also core to its ability to fit two queen-sized air mattresses. By having high, straight walls and a large, open floor you’re able to, pretty neatly, slot your air mattresses in against the corners without feeling like curved walls are looming over your face once you’ve settled in for bed.
Speaking of the floor, there are adjustable ground vents along the floor of this tent, giving you the air circulation to comfortably fit 9 people, all of their equipment, pets, and air mattresses. You’re not going to feel stifled or cut off by the polyester of this tent.

This tent from Browning is a huge, spacious option that’s serviceable, easy to set up, and incredibly light. If you’re looking for large rent that will set up quickly, and won’t tear your wallet apart, then you’ll get a lot of mileage out of this tent.
This browning tent holds 5 people comfortably. Once you’ve set it up (a process that takes a few minutes at most, if you have a few hands on deck), it stands at a healthy 84 inches. This tent is closer to a portable cabin with an open floor plan than it is to a traditional tent.
The high ceiling is more than enough room to stand up in, it has true headroom, so you’re not going to be subjected to the claustrophobic feeling of standing just below the ceiling of your tent. It’s a three-season tent, so it’s going to best serve you between late spring and early autumn.
It’s comfortable enough, but there aren’t any bells and whistles to encourage airflow like the tents from Coleman and Core. That means you’re probably going to end up sleeping with the windows and door open some nights, which isn’t always ideal if you’re going to be out there with hungry critters and bugs that like to nose around in your personal space. It’s a small issue, but it’s important to consider because it’s hard to fix once you’re out there camping.

Reylo put a lot of effort into sealing seams by sewing them so their point of contact faces inwards, adding seam tape to the sewn areas, and keeping the stitches tight so they don’t leach water into your fortress. The steel poles, the guy ropes, and the stake-able corners secure the tent to the ground and provide enough structure to keep it upright and stable during heavy winds.
This the kind of tent you’d want on your side if the sky opens up in the middle of your peaceful retreat. While testing this tent, we had a great time with the spacious interior. The tent is a 13′ × 9′ × 78″ titan. The floor, walls, and ceiling all work together to make a sturdy and easily accessible space to bed down for the night while you’re out on the trail or car camping out to a local spot with a fully outfitted spot.
The interior doesn’t have to be a stark open area. Reylo includes an apparatus to divide the area into several smaller rooms so everyone in your party is able to carve out space for themselves without having to bring along more than one tent.
You don’t immediately think of this sort of feature as one that will cut down on the amount of space and equipment you’ll need for a long hike or backpacking trip, but it’s so good at creating ample, comfortable space for everyone that we feel comfortable saying you’d have an enjoyable time with just the one tent rather than bringing several.

This one is a little different. It’s admittedly a little strange if you’re looking for a traditional camping solution, but if you’re willing to branch out a little bit to find a new comfort zone, then this tent might change the way you camp forever.
If we’re going to be upfront about the issues this tent presents, the biggest one is going to be its weight. It’s not a small tent, and that means you’re going to be lugging a lot of mass around. You’re only going to want this tent if you’re camping in a large group, so this is the perfect opportunity to divvy up the labor by assigning a person to be the “tent guy.”
If you can look past the weight, this tent is excellent. It’s an impressive 16 feet all the way across, and everybody’s going to have plenty of room to lie down and claim a slice of the pie for themselves. It’s fully weather-proof, and despite its size, it’s surprisingly sturdy. If you’re smart about your setup, you’re going to be able to secure it pretty well, and it’s not going to allow itself to be bullied by the wind.

This tent is a little bit on the smaller side, but it makes up for that by being a joy to spend your time in. The tent itself is spacious enough to feel like you’re not rubbing elbows with the folks you’ve brought alone, and overall it’s comfortable during most of the year.
The best feature of this tent, by far, is the porch section. The front of the tent opens up and gives you a makeshift rooftop patio of sorts. As a shelter, it’s rugged and sturdy. Wind and rain aren’t going to pierce the shell of your fortress. Your trip isn’t going to be cut short by an unexpected chill or a particularly strong gust of wind. It’s a good tent that covers all of the basics while adding a little more fun in the form of a small patio.

The Coleman WeatherMaster does a lot to earn its name. The basic construction of the tent and its overall levels of ventilation push it way up above its competition. This Coleman tent is easily one of the most reliable large tents out there right now.
Size wise, it hits the large tent sweet spot, if you’re camping out with a group of folks larger than 10 or so, it’s going to be a little untenable. We wish it were more of a cabin-style tent, but it’s still quite spacious even if you do lose out on a little bit of headroom. That’s a minor complaint in the face of all the good this tent has going for it.
The four-season nature of this tent makes it incredibly versatile, which is one of the most useful aspects of a tent you’re going to be stranding yourself with while trudging through the great outdoors. You can totally seal yourself off from the cold and bundle up just as easily as your ability to pop open a few vents and create a cross breeze that will make your summer nights a gentle retreat.
