Why Kayak Needs To Be a Part of Your Camping Gear

Camping has evolved into much more than a tent and a campfire. When it comes to spending the night, or the week, in the outdoors, there are several great pieces of gear that you need to pack in the car. Camping gear has evolved so that you can camp any time of the year, all over the world. You can find all-season tents and can even camp in the snow, in order to awaken fresh and at the foot of a backcountry mountain for some touring.

Why go Camping?

Camping is an ideal way to get outdoors. Camping gives you an ample amount of time to soak in the fresh air and enjoy the stress-free life of the wilderness. You can choose to camp in many ways. You can backpack, where you will pack in all of your gear on your back and hike to a beautiful and serene camping spot.

Backpacking takes quite a bit of planning as you want to make sure that you have all of the right gear on your back without getting too weighed down. It is important to make sure that you have enough food, water, and a way to cook it. It is also important to note that many places have fire restrictions for a lot of the year due to climate change and wildfires.

Another great way to camp is to car camp. This involves loading your car with all of your gear, including fancier foods and a larger camp stove and camp nearby. This is a great way to enjoy all of the luxuries of home while also enjoying the great outdoors at the same time. One of the benefits of car camping includes being able to pack in your inflatable kayaks for a cruise around the lake and bring along those mountain bikes for an exhilarating ride through the nearby hills.

What to Bring?

Your packing list will vary greatly, pending on whether or not you are car camping or backpacking. Either way, there are several things that you need to bring as well as some that would be fun to have along as long as you aren’t carrying them on your back!

1. A Tent

It is vital to bring along a good tent along with a sleeping pad and a sleeping bag. Make sure that your sleeping bag is warm enough for the current low temperatures that you will experience at the time of the year that you are camping. There is nothing that is less ideal than being cold all night! Also, make sure to bring enough clothing for camping – including layers and a puffy jacket in case it is cold at night.

2. Food

Of course, you need to ensure that you have all of the food that you need for however long you will be outdoors. If you are car camping, then you can make elaborate meals and can bring along a cooler filled with beverages as well. You can make fancier meals, even steaks, or you can make more typical backpacking meals such as mac-n-cheese or other easy to make foods. If you are backpacking, then you want to be sure that you plan enough meals for three meals a day plus snacks. It is also important to consider how many ‘dry’ meals that you want to bring to prevent yourself from lighting up your camp stove in the middle of your hiking day.

3. Luxuries

If you are car camping, then it is essential to bring along all of the added luxuries that you can squeeze into your car. This is the benefit of camping in your car! You can rent or purchase kayaks to bring with you if you are camping near water. You can also rent or purchase stand up paddleboards to try out if you will be near a calm lake. Another luxury can include mountain bikes if you are in an area where there are trails or hills nearby.

4. Water

Don’t forget to bring enough water with you. If you are car camping, then it doesn’t hurt to bring an extra-large jug of water with you. If you are backpacking, then you need to have a water filter as well as adequate water for the start of your hike and know where the water sources will be located along the way.

As you can see, there are many essential (and fun) things to bring along on a camping trip! Camping is great for families as well as for friends. If you want alone time, then you can also camp alone, just stay safe.
