Further protection against the elements is offered via the design's premium rainfly. The rainfly is made of water-resistant 75D 185T polyester with a 1500mm waterproof rating. We always think Amazon reviews are one of the best ways to check whether a product delivers on its promise. And judging by the glowing reviews on this ALPS Mountaineering Tent, this product doesn't disappoint. Making it an outstanding value-for-money best tents choice to camp in comfort, regardless of the season.
The Black Diamond Eldorado 2-Person Tent is an extra-spacious version of the brand's popular I-Tent. This 2-Person Black Diamond style measures 87" x 51" x 51", with a peak height of 43". The total interior space is 30.8 square feet, whilst the style also comes with an optional vestibule for additional gear storage. Designed for climbers and backpackers, the Black Diamond Eldorado 4-season tent is big on portability. The design folds down to a 7" x 19" bundles, and weighs approximately 5 pounds when packed (4 lb 8 oz with minimum setup).
To ensure maximum durability and toughness, Black Diamond has only used top-grade materials in the construction of the Eldorado tent. The tent shell is made of premium ToddTex single-wall fabric, whilst the poles are lightweight aluminum. The ToddTex single-wall fabric is a superb choice to prevent condensation from making the inside of your tent soggy. The innovative fabric contains hundreds of micro-hairs that cleverly wick moisture to the outside of your tent. A unique selling point of this brand.
A minor downside is that the Black Diamond Eldorado does not come seam sealed, which we'd always recommend for winter camping (or any season camping). For a tent at this price-point, we would have expected factory-sealed seams, but in this case: you'll have to seal the seams yourself if desired. The Black Diamond Eldorado 2-Person Tent has a single door entry. To promote ventilation, the style does come with two zippered vents at the peak, a hooded vent over the door, and one at the bottom, allowing you to circulate air when desired.
Pitches from the inside
Setup of the Black Diamond Eldorado 2-Person Tent should be relatively straight-forward but may take some getting used to. Unlike other 3-season tents and 4-season shelters, this design pitches from the inside. To erect the tent, you'll need to insert the ends of the aluminum poles into the reinforced corners. When actioned correctly, the poles are supported by the walls, creating a solid and sturdy foundation to keep you safe and secure.
Though Amazon reviews are limited, the internet is awash with praise for the Black Diamond Eldorado 2-Person Tent. Whether its customer reviews via other outdoor retailers or on mountaineering forums, this tent is rated as one of the best single-wall backpacking tents for extreme conditions. Climbers, hikers, and backpackers confirm it holds up to all kinds of weather scenarios, whether you're snow camping on Mount Rainier, or taking it trekking trough Patagonia: the Black Diamond Eldorado 2-Person Tent is an outstanding winter tent. Yes, it is quite expensive, but if you want premium performance and quality, bundled in a lightweight and portable design: this 'best cold-weather tents' contender is worth the investment.

After finalizing our research, we concluded that this premium-built tent by Crua Outdoors is one of the best insulated tents that you can purchase on the market today.
This tent provides a revolutionary level of insulated shelter for up to three people. The tent’s insulation is further reinforced by the patented TT insulation layer, which keeps your tent warm when out in the cold and cool during the hot summer months. The tent’s insulation material also significantly reduces any noises from your surroundings and minimizes the light almost entirely, which is ideal if you want to take a short nap during the day.
The actual construction of the tent was built to last for years. It includes aero-grade aluminum poles, patented durabreathe technology to prevent condensation while making the tent completely waterproof. To further improve the tent’s insulation, the tent was reinforced by a puncture and tear-resistant 80/20 polycotton fabric with a built-in double thickness groundsheet.
As for dimensions, once fully installed (which shouldn’t take longer than 10 minutes), the tent measures 6.5ft (W) x 7.5ft (L) x 5ft (H). Once folded, the tent measures 34 (L) x 20 (W) x 18 (D) at a total weight of 61.73 lbs, which is quite heavy; however, once you make use of the tent, you will see why.
Regardless of whether you plan on camping out in nature while fishing or hunting or are looking for a durable tent for a festival, this tent is a great overall solution for all of your shelter needs while away from home.
So, which of the 3 options is 'the best'? Well, that completely depends on how much you're willing to spend, where you plan to use the tent, and what type of camper you are. Picking a winner is not an easy feat, as all 3 tents on this overview offer great value-for-money. If I had to buy one, I'd put my money towards the ALPS Mountaineering Tasmanian 2-Person Tent. Don't get me wrong: I think the Black Diamond El Dorado is an outstanding quality tent, and am very intrigued by the versatility of the Crua Duo & Cocoon, but the ALPS Mountaineering Tasmanian 2-Person Tent is the best fit with my camping needs.
I enjoy cold-weather camping and venture into nature all-year-round. However, I don't plan on camping in sub-zero conditions with a thick layer of snow. So, for me, a 4-season tent simply needs to keep me warm and sheltered - not withstand extreme weather conditions. The ALPS Mountaineering Tasmanian 2-Person Tent may not be as high-end in design and durability as the El Dorado, but it offers sufficient comfort, protection, and 4-season functionality for my scenario. Making it the most value-for-money option for me. That said, this doesn't mean the other 2 tents are inferior or not worthy of your attention. It's simply a case of finding the style that fits your needs best...
For example, not only is the ALPS Mountaineering Tasmanian 2-Person Tent within my budget, but it also comes with design-elements that I look for, such as storage pockets, mesh windows that allow me to ventilate the tent and even a gear loft for smaller personal belongings. I also prefer tents with two doors, as quick access and exit to my shelter are important to me. Plus, when camping with a friend, an extra door is a luxury (as you don't have to climb over a person to reach the exit). The ALPS Mountaineering Tasmanian 2-Person Tent is, for those reasons, my winner - and I'm confident this quality design would make any outdoor enthusiast a happy camper.
